Dogs Could Worsen Your Mental Health According To This New Study
Dogs are great for your mental health, right? Well, a new study has been released suggesting that maybe dogs shouldn’t always be prescribed for people suffering from anxiety or depression…
The research found that even though dog owners had greater emotional support and companionship, “it is not the solution for those suffering from depression and anxiety – in fact, it may make it worse in some contexts,” says the study author, Carri Westgarth.
Although the positives include creating purpose in your life, they could also create an overwhelming burden of responsibility. To put this into perspective, think about the pet owners in your life who can’t make it to social events due to their fur baby, further distancing themselves from loved ones.
